Founded in 2008, W/––– Projects (With Projects) began as an interdisciplinary, installation-focused arts space based in Chinatown, inviting artists, designers and musicians to produce new work under tight spatial constraints. Occupying the interstices of fine arts practices, exhibitions would range from one-time happenings to week-long events. Today W/––– Projects has become an umbrella entity for various art projects in New York and abroad, including White Zinfandel, a biannual arts and culture magazine, and W/ Editions, an ongoing print and object series.

Jiminie Ha is the founder of W/––– Projects, and also is curator/editor/publisher of White Zinfandel. MacGregor Harp joined in 2011 as a co-director, and curates W/––– Editions.

So we'll each make a work and place them together. Or side-by-side. Or within one another. I'd like to make a new work with glass clipframes. I'll use the words then, clipframes and permutations. Maybe your poems in my frames? I like this idea of an accident waiting to happen. What if it's more specific to the space itself? Because it's quite small, it's only a storefront. The show's not up for long, so consider the duration. Roughness, too. And compression. Yours are modular in the same way as mine. They're permutations, visual rhymes of each other. That's what gives it meaning. It should be quite an empty gallery when you look at first. Yes, the gaps are what will fill it.

Amy Yao

IN THE RED W/ Amy Yao

Not knowing what to do and where to go is sometimes better than being a busy body. Ms. Yao's sculptures are in limbo, they are neither here nor there. What has been said about them is pussy, pussy-cat toy, bow and arrow, Hollywood starlet. Evasive but still determined, they exist.

Jill Galarneau

GOT MY LOCK & KEY TO GO WHERE
W/ Jill Galarneau

BIO: Jill Galarneau lives in Brooklyn where she is on the prowl for locations for wall drawings, inspiring recipes to try and novels to read.. She is ringing in 2009 with concurrent fiscal austerity and detoxifiation regimes both of which include ginger champagne cocktails. Strengthened by this new year's resolve, Jill recently reached a Ms.Pac-man realm so advanced that power pellets are irrelevant. Her current obsessions include: non-patent infringing Scrabble-derived games, cat psychology, indoor cacti gardening and exotic (yet reasonably priced) teas.

Mister Singley

WOODEN THINGS & ELECTRICITY
W/ Mister Singley
Co—curated with Michi Kobayashi

Coming out of the wood shop
With wooden things and requesting electricity
To power some lamps and chandeliers
Come to the chinatown light store party

BIO
Lurks in bk
Worried about toxic stuff at work
But not worried enough to always wear protection
Becoming a bigger fan of wood and 3d stuff - who knew?
Excited about art out of context
You know, like everyday stuff, and even the way people act
It's interesting
Strong likes not too harsh on dislikes whats the point
You know being too critical who cares
As long as you're doing your thing and you're happy
My friend likes the jonas bros. Who cares she's cool
Graduated from uc santa cruz in 2003
And is in bk now which is like santa cruz in some ways
But not in other ways.
